About the Dewberry Family Association Inc.
The Dewberry Family Association Inc. is organized as a Virginia Corporation for the purpose of owning title to the book "The Dewberry Families of America and their Ancestry" and receiving the proceeds from the sale of the book. These proceeds will be used solely for the benefit of the Family Association. The authors have contributed their time and money and will take none of the proceeds for their personal reimbursement for expenses associated with the book. Well over 20,000 person-hours have been volunteered to research and write the book and tens of thousands of dollars have been expended for assistants and publication expenses. In addition, numerous others, as indicated in "Acknowledgements" within the book, have donated hundreds of hours of their time in supplying information and photographs about their own immediate family line. It is hoped that the publication of this book will raise the level of awareness of the rich and varied lives of the many Dewberrys in the United States and lead toward the establishment of a real family association, a family association that will be self-perpetuating with a board of directors, officers, periodic publications of interest to all, publication of births, marriages, deaths, individual biographies, and family stories. An ambition of the authors is to see a family reunion organized to be fun and informative and that could be repeated every two years or so. Such an undertaking will require the enthusiasm and energy of several people to organize and carry forward. Both authors are now in their 70s and cannot be expected to undertake this task but are willing to participate. Interested participants should so state their interest by use of the web site or by contacting either of the authors directly. The Dewberry Family Association Inc. is organized as a corporation that has issued no stock. It does not qualify as a non profit organization under IRS rules but is intended to be a not-for-profit group. The two authors are the original organizers but are anxious to have others come on as members so that a board of directors can be established and rules can be established by that board. The initial president is Sidney Alton Dewberry whose address is P.O. Box 904, Dawsonville, GA 30534.
